I am sending a letter to the Fair Lawn Mayor and council members regarding the wave of anti-abortion laws being enacted. Every voice matters and that starts with voices at the local level. If you live in Fair Lawn and support speaking up against the anti-abortion laws being passed, then sign your name so our representatives hear about the issues we care about. If you want to read the letter I am planning on sending, continue reading:

"Dear Mayor Peluso and Council Members,

As you may have heard, there are several states that have now passed anti-abortion laws. There is no way that those states would have passed such strict legislation if they didn’t have support on every level. I know that our state is fairly Democratic and while that makes me, as a woman, feel a lot safer, I want to ensure that the individuals that we have representing us are speaking up and out about such laws.

This is becoming a much bigger issue than just those few states. The senators that worked to pass these laws have publicly stated that they hope this moves to the Supreme Court so they would have an opportunity to overturn Roe v Wade. This cannot happen.

When I was speaking to my grandmother about these drastic changes, she understood and sympathized but she told me that i’m no Hillary Clinton and that I should let other people fight this. But who is going to fight for my rights, and the rights of women like me, more than me?

So, Mayor, here is my call to action for you and your fellow council members: speak out. Be our town’s voice, because every voice matters at a time like this. My plan is to contact other officials in the state of New Jersey, and I would greatly appreciate your support in this endeavor.

Please feel free to reach out to me and I look forward to discussing what you will do regarding this topic."
