Letter to Danish Minister of Health against dismissal of Peter Gotzsche

Dr. Gøtzsche as an important voice in maintaining a well-informed public.

Common sense should prevail.

I'm sure the pressure from industry to have voices like Dr Gotzche's silenced but in the interests of public health his position should be maintained and respected

Dr. Gotzche does not deserve this kind of treatment. Honest, independent research is what all research should be.

The dismissal of Peter Gøtzche from the Rigshospitalet is a shameful and corrupt action.

You should be retaining your honest independent medics, who have the courage to stand up to pressure from rich international drug companies, who truly belive in "first do no harm" for their patients, Denmark should be so proud to have him, and should be supporting him wholeheartedly. Shame for the future of of your nations health if you dont.

We need courageous people like Dr. Gotzche.

Retaining Dr. Gotzche is an ethical decision, which supports transparency in this field.

I’m a true victim of psychopharmacology and crippled for life because of “small mistakes” in the administering of my horrible cocktail of 4 psychomeds in the highest dosage possible. Right now, because of this, I’m in the final stage of a euthanasia trajectory. I’ll never walk again, be without pain and very likely - at 49 - at the premature end of my life. Because of medical mistakes, completely unnecessary. Peter Gœtzsche is the one person who, with very sound scientifical methods and huge datasets shows the danger of psychomeds and the incredible hunt for profit in the pharmaceutical sector. Silence this man means silencing many voices, voices that are silent anyway, not by choice, but because of completely unequal doctor-patient relationships (both within mental health care as is “normal” hospitals). I dare to say that silencing him will cost many lives apart from being a shameful action of his employer who’ll lose a lot of knowledge. The Cochrane foundation will probably survive, but this university will sustain irreparable damage. A shame.

Do not dismiss this man. We know the agenda behind this.

Dr. Gotzsche's reputation for honesty and integrity speaks louder than those who wish to remove him because he speaks the truth. We need more people like him who genuinely care. Please be as strong and as ethical and retain him and be proud you have him. We, in the USA, wish we had more like him.

We need more of the kind of people like Dr. Peter Gøtzsche, not less. He is important.

Please reconsider this shameful action and reinstate Dr. Gøtzsche immediately. His voice is needed for the greater benefit of health care in Denmark and the world. Save face by blaming some underling.

a brilliant, honest scientist who shares his opinion

Working in psychiatric hospitals for nearly three decades, ultimately as MD, I am deeply grateful - though not always sharing his opinions completely - for the work of Prof. Goetzsche, for it is important to counterbalance the more industrial based common opinion on psychopharmacology. His demission and somehow silencing wouls mean a bitter loss for the case of many psychiatric patients. Peter makes us think and debate, and that´s what´s important in our daily struggle and routine.
