Goodwater is full of potential, and seeing people rally behind it is so encouraging. One of the historic downtown buildings—right next to Ed’s Deli—is being restored with a new vision: Liza Pizza, a casual, family-friendly pizza spot that aims to bring fresh energy and connection to Main Street.
The property owner is working hard to make this dream a reality, and I’ve been helping along the way—doing everything I can to support the process and the heart behind it. But projects like this take more than dedication. They require funding, visibility, and a community that believes in rebuilding what matters.
It’s not just about pizza—it’s about turning a once-abandoned space into something vibrant and meaningful. It’s about restoring pride in a town that deserves it. We want Liza Pizza to be a part of Goodwater’s comeback story, but getting there means overcoming big challenges—especially when it comes to grant access and small-town resources.

There is no place like Goodwater, although the physical state of this city looks bad, the people are still great, I was born and raised Goodwater and I will forever support the city. The building in the image above, Goodwater (Franklin) Feed and Seed, circa 1903, has just been listed on The Alabama Register of Historic Places. Congratulations, Goodwater!

Goodwater is due for a make-over. Let me ask... Who remembers May Day in Goodwater? The casket races? Climbing the greasy pole to get the $100 bill at the top? The train driving the kids around town? The 280 Club was our outlet. We used to have FUN in Goodwater! I mean FUN! The Highland was the "Highlight" of visitors to roll thru with their cars shining. Rims cleaned! LOL!! I truly hope this petition gets us the funding we need to demolish the old buildings and etc. But we will need to replace those old buildings with new buildings and with new businesses and with new ideas to promote growth in our community. How can I help? How can we create more jobs to reverse the crime rate? How can we restore a greater hope in our town? I've been wondering these things for years. We achieve these things by crawling before we walk. Thank you for taking the first step and starting this initiative to rebuild my home town. Goodwater stand up! Fight for our town!
