Dear Dayan Abrahams, Dayan Gelley, Dayan Binstock and Dayan Simons If you were to spend some time with some of the people who pay your wages (i.e. members of United Synagogues) you may or may not be surprised to find that the overwhelming majority of them would find your opinions about various issues, including Limmud attendance, narrow minded, ignorant and give a bad name to our tradition and our people. We believe that you owe the members of the US and the community at large an opportunity to discover more comprehensibly what you are thinking so that we can respond appropriately. A Fatwa style letter is indeed indicative to some extent but clearly we need more information. We politely but firmly request that you agree to attend meetings which can be recorded, where we can explore your opinions and ask the questions we wish to ask. A prerequisite of such meetings would be no foreknowledge of the questions because if you are who you say you are, you would surely be delighted with the opportunity to face ANY questions without preparation.
