My name is Tara Busch. I am a wife, a mother of 2... and a pre-school teacher at a wonderful Christian Child Care Facility..I am outraged, appalled, and saddened beyond words by the teachings of this married couple Michael and Debi Pearl. The ministry they run, "No Greater Joy" along with The book that they wrote called " To Train Up A Child" actually teaches parents how to BEATyour children into submission so they become quiet and well behaved. This petition might sound a little unprofessional... because I am writing this straight from my heart. I will be perfectly honest.. I have NOT read the book... Partly because I refuse to pay one red penny for it, and partly because just by my research alone, I'm sure I couldn't get through it without having a sobbing breakdown. A portion of the book, (not verbatim) states that you should beat your babies. How? Start teaching them to obey early... place your INFANT on a small square baby blanket on the floor. When your baby tries to crawl off of the blanket, hit them with a switch. There was a news story about how a foster family beat their 7 year old child to death, because of the teachings of this book... also another case of a 10 month old... again.... this book was found. There is a video from the news with Anderson Cooper telling the story of the 7 year old girl. I urge everyone who comes in contact with this petition to please please take just a moment to read this, then, just google or Youtube them... you, just like me I'm sure will be shocked just as I was that this book is in circulation. I'm a Christian Woman, a Christ follower and I love The Lord. I know the Bible and I know what it says, and no where in that book does it say to beat your kids to death....yes.. children are dying because of the teachings of this book...... oh and don't forget to check out "pearls of wisdom" on youtube... Judge for yourself..... please learn about these people BEFORE you sign this petition...So that my signatures are real and heartfelt... thank you for your time..This Petition is to try to get The Book "To Train Up A Child" OFF the shelves.
