We are high schoolers we should be able to use our phone in the morning, at break, and during lunch

it's unfair to not be allowed to have free time to do whatever we want that includes being on cellular devices

The school should be more focused on the students safely getting an education, not in cell phones in students' pockets. To me it seems rediculous to take a student's phone because they are trying to put it away. If they were on it in class then I understand, but just because it's in their hand makes no sense. To me it just shows where the current priorities lie.

I believe this ruling is incorrect. I go to Grimsley and we are allowed to have our phones out in between classes as well as before school. I got word of this petition through a friend.

I think the school's focus should be on the students receiving an education and getting that education safely, not on students having phones in their pockets. If they were to be on it in class, that's one thing, but to take it away because it was in a student's hand in the hallway is rediculous. To me it really shows the school's priorities are not in the right place.

There's no reason we shouldn't be allowed to have our phone during our breaks. In case of emergency, students should be allowed to have their phones out.

I believe that it is rediculous to have such a strict policy on cell phone usage that we at Northern deal with. There are much more pressing issues to address (fights, rumors of gun violence, ect.), and phones are not to blame for these problems. Of course a complete free cell phone usage policy would be flawed, but it should be allowed during break, lunch, and before schools. These are times away from the classroom where students are granted a chance to socialize. Usage of phones during these times would in no way cause distraction or disturbance to our education, as long as they are used at the correct time and place.

Schools should be worried about more important issues. Sometimes students need to contact their parents or have other emergencies. Also, if the school is doing this because they are worried about cheating or fights, students will always find other ways to do that stuff.
