Also there are many people who lose their hearing as they get older and it would be less frustrating for them and enable them to carry on being able to communicate as their hearing deteriorates. My mother in law has lost her hearing and she gets so angry and upset at times because she can't always understand what is going on. My father in law is also finding it difficult to hear now and both my husband and my sister in law are beginning to have hearing problems. It would mean so much to them if they had learnt an alternative form of communication from childhood.

I only wish I had had the opportunity to learn BSL at school - rather than stumbling upon it later in life. Such a beautiful language, and such an important language to learn.
