Let God Back Into Girl Scouts

In 1995, the Girl Scouts made it optional to include the word "God" in their official "promise." Here\'s "The Girl Scout Promise," according to the GSUSA website: "On my honor, I will try: To serve God* and my country, To help people at all times, And to live by the Girl Scout Law." The asterisk is explained at the bottom of the page: "The word \'God\' can be interpreted in a number of ways, depending on one\'s spiritual beliefs. When reciting the Girl Scout Promise, it is okay to replace the word \'God\' with whatever word your spiritual beliefs dictate." We believe the one true God that was served when the Girl Scouts were started is the same true God we serve today. I want to let God back into Girl Scouts. Lauren, age 9
