So if he didn't say anything and played, he probably got caught. But he does the right thing and shows integrity and the NCAA punishes him for it. On the flip side we have UofA denying everything even though the FBI has them on tape and nothing has happened?
One or two games I could get past...but NINE games? That's ridiculous NCAA. How did this kid gain an advantage? Game the system? Make money? Come on...do the right thing and let him play!
Yoeli paid back money made with 7% interest and just wanted to come back to school. Don't hammer the kid on a technicality! He's the kind of student athlete you want to represent the NCAA.
You're going to punish a guy for opting out of the draft and going back to school?! Don't forget the student part of student-athlete. Also don't forget that you are not just some mindless bureaucracy, you can show heart. Or can you?
Ridiculous that the NCAA claims to sorry student athletes. He turned down the pros and came back to school. He returned all benefits received. Why take away 1/3 his senior season?
Its not like he took thousands from an anonymous (asst. Coach) source to play for a certain school. Or be given a totally bogus fake grade to stay eligible. AND he self reported AND paid everything back!
NCAA should show it has the student’s back- not stab him n the back.

There was nothing malicious about what Yoeli Childs did. It's a paperwork snafu that he might have done correctly if the day before he decided to look at the NBA his whole coaching staff turned over and there was no help for him. Your punishments are not the same across the board. Let him play
