Consultation on major projects is essential. I am worried that ratepayers will be paying for years. The last cinema in the main street folded.

The lack of transparency on this project is breathtaking. Despite personal requests no information is available on details we as ratepayers are entitled to have.

No excuse for poor consultation. Personally I have seen better tin sheds in terms of design, it looks like a bad CAD/CAM accident. Why wasn't the business case made public before releasing details of design and announcing a tender date, how can we possibly know if the proposal stacks up financially short and long term and what the likely economic / financial impact on council and similar local business's is? The council has trouble undertaking its own designated statutory role, let alone attempting to get entreprenerial its own right. Sounds like a bad case of here's some grant funding without any prior strategic planning and sense of priorities, just an urgent need to spend it. I have no issue with upgrading the visitor centre / museum precinct but we can do without all the icing on the cake. Go back to square 1 and try again 3/10. If the CEO want's to run cinemas and cafes, perhaps he should look to find suitable commercial opportunities with his own money. Michael Vanderzee, Swanpool

Please communicate with residents and consuider their inputs. There is lot of concern about the current development and there nothing to fear from listening and actually hearing.

I dislike the changes they want to our beautiful building.
I dislike that the council will also have some office’s in the new building. What a waste
I am not happy that anyone building a new home have to meet flood levels and yet council can build in a flood area. Can only imagine what the insurance cost would be building in a flood area

We need open accountability to see where our money is going. Clear, realistic plans and budgets that we can afford in future years rather than grabbing any grant on offer without thorough planning and true consultation

Have not seen one person comment that they think the current proposal by the council should go ahead. I saw a comment recently that the Visitor Information Centre should be positioned next to the Royal Hotel where the old caravan park was. Made so much sense to me as that's where many visitors stop when they come into town and there's amenities already there. You also don't need to spend 100's of thousands of dollars on the damn thing.Might also be an opportunity for an existing coffee van or new enterprise to be parked there. With summer coming up maybe Benalla Council can set up outdoor cinema nights with a few coffee vans or local cafes setting up food tents. Just a thought. But yes roads , footpaths etc should have money thrown at them, NOT a cinema and cafe we don't need.

Do something for the kids. Rocket slide park 2 swings really, if you what to do something ask the parent, grandparent. There no where in this town to buy children’s clothes, underwear, etc. The council could buy the empty commercial hotel, do something really nice nice.

Benalla does not require another cinema and cafe. Our existing ones are struggling financially. Are we rate payers going to have to fund this??

i made this comment a couple of weeks ago, but didn't hear back from Mayor or any of the councilors, lets get behind this and make them accountable to the rate payers
