This petition will be sent to the city of East Liverpool who on July 1st, 2024 unfairly and unjustly condemned my primary residence. I am a disabled mom with two young girls, one who has autism. We have been homeless for over 4 months. My residence was never at a condemned state. I have done everything the city has asked of me and they still refuse to allow me access to my home. At their request I hired a structural engineer, an electrician, and completed several items on their deficiency list. I was told by the city inspector that I could go back home if it passed the structural inspection, which it did. They still refuse to allow me access to my home. It has become clear that their intentions are not where they should be. Please sign this petition to let the city know that what they are doing to my family is wrong and they must do the right thing and let us go home!

Updates

November 14, 2024

The city officials continue to ignore my emails and calls while my girls and I stay in limbo. Please call the mayor's office today to demand they look at the passed structural inspection results. Forward this link to three people who live in the city so they know exactly how the local government treats residents.

November 14, 2024

The momentum behind this petition proves that the city cannot ignore us anymore. Call the mayor office today and demand they honor the structural engineer report so my children can finally have a stable roof over their heads.

I understand the importance of condemning and tearing down houses that are abandoned and unsafe but the city needs to be VERY discerning about condemning houses that result in causing people (especially children) to be without a home. East Liverpool doesn’t even have a resource or safe place for those without homes. It’s been alarming to hear of houses being condemned that are lived in. If these homes are structurally safe the greater danger is putting people on the streets. Please reconsider this decision! We MUST move forward as a community first stabilizing and lifting the PEOPLE WHO LIVE HERE up and then East Liverpool will have something really beautiful to move forward to prosper the whole city TOGETHER!

If this family did everything on the list why not let them back in their home. There are two young girls on the street who should be back in their own home and their own beds. It is very wrong to tell them to get this stuff done and then they can go back home then tell them they can't after they have done what was asked of them. Please put this family back in their home where they belong.

Not fair for this family to be treated this way. Especially since they have followed the guidelines that you set forth for them to get back in their home. Let them go home!

It is cruel to treat this family this way. They've done all that was asked of them and they should be allowed to go to their house.

This is ridiculous, let this family move back into their home. There are properties in far worse shape than this one. Yes, I have been inside this home in the last few months and there is no way this home should be condemned. Especially by people that are not qualified to condemn a home.

I feel that this is a terrible injustice to this family! It is SO wrong! It is hard enough on the adults, but this is such a traumatic, scary thing that these young girls are forced to deal with, especially one with Autism! Please sign and share!
