These kids worked hard to earn the cap and gown they wear to graduation. It's a right of passage to be able to express themselves by decorating their caps. What/who does it hurt to let them do it? They earned the cap, they pay for the cap, they should be able to decorate the cap.

I graduated from GHS in 2014 and I was allowed to decorate my cap!! Not only did my parents pay for my cap and gown but I worked hard to walk across that stage! The decoration of your hat is the one last time that you get to express yourself before you have to leave the life you have known for 13 years! I would completely understand if there were students that had decorated theirs in a vulgar way but there has not been! Let the class of 2017 express their selves one last time...something that school has beat into us to since day one!

Graduation is what we have worked for, for the past 13 years of our lives. Our lives since we were 5 years old, have prepared us for this! After we walk across that stage, we are faced with reality; whether it's moving out, or going straight into the work force, we are pushed out of the nest. Graduation is our one last celebration before we have to go out and be....adults. We worked for them, we waited for them, and we even payed for them. Let us have one final, warm memory of our home for 4 years.

As much hard work that we have put it during these 13 years it always been a accomplishment to get to decorate our caps when I see other schools I love to look at things that represent that perso.. I don't know why we are so bad that we can't decorate our caps I feel after 13 YEARS we should have one little treat.......

My daughter graduates this year and should be allowed to decorate her cap without the school making threats to the students sating they can't. The school don't pay for the caps anyway. Let them celebrate.

It's about time! I agree that it shouldn't be vulgar but we went through 13 years of school to get to this moment and we should be allowed to express our individuality and our person pride in that moment!

Gibbs kids can do anything except be ourselves. We have to walk like an adult and talk like an adult but the second we want to actually use our freedom of expression we are children. And if we decorate our cap we can't graduate? Okay. It's my hard-earned money. I'm not gonna spend it on a piece of cardboard covered in fabric if I can't make it my own. Let us do it!

We pay for them. Webster thinks they look bad, but who is the one graduating? It should be our decision. Let us have a little fun and express ourselves if we have to act civil walking across a stage we've been working for for our entire lives.

I believe it is the best idea ever! Not just for Gibbs but every high school because it will be our last year in high school and our last year as a teen we shouldn't have to just represent our school but ourselves too! It should be allowed if you purchase a gown and cap and not order one or they have a special cap that you can design or maybe let the students decorate their gowns

I am not only signing this petition because I think we deserve nothing more than the right to decorate a cap that our parents pay for at a graduation that does not portain to the school building, but it is downright silly for us to be told we may not graduate if we decorate our caps. The school system wants us to act mature and grow up because we are going out into the "grown up" world. Well then, how about starting by letting us make an adult decision when it comes to whether or not we want to decorate our caps for graduation; it doesn't distract or demean those graduating from colleges, so why would it to us graduating high school?

the seniors of GHS should be able to express themselves and be able to decorate their caps as long as it is appropriate. as seniors, they told us we would not be able to walk if we decorated ours. i hope y'all can make a change!

How are you supposed bto express who you are without being able to design what you like
