I find this appalling that parents choice is rejected. The absolute decline in the quality of BUSD is exactly why we switched to private school. Figure it out quickly before you lose more funds.

I fail to see how it’s “supporting arts programs” to force students to attend a school that doesn’t have room in its vocal music program, when the school they applied to attend *does* have room to welcome them. Enrollment decisions should maximize education opportunities for our students, not take them away.

Middle school is such a challenging time. Giving kids some agency & opportunity to find a fit improves their experience and keeps many in the district.

I have a child going to MS in 3 years. We’re 5 blocks away from luther on the wrong side of Clark and she’ll be walking home. No way she should walk 20+ blocks from Huerta. Ridiculous

Elementary schools should not be divided! Many of the Roosevelt kids homes are in walking distance to Luther vs Huerta is across town

Both of my current middle school students are a product of intra-district permits and we are so grateful because they are thriving. ALL of the kids they grew up going to school at Roosevelt went to one middle school. We live on the other side of the boundary and were pleased when our applications were accepted so that our kids could continue with their close friends for their emotional and social well being.

Families who pay taxes in Burbank should have priority to choose what middle school they go to over students transferring in from LAUSD and GUSD. Parents who are already involved in a school community, including PTSA, etc., should not be torn from these deep-rooted relationships and forced to attend a school they did not wish to attend. When bonds have already been formed with teachers, counselors, etc., it is unfair to break these for administrative reasons. These are real children and real families; not just names and statistics.

My two oldest are at Luther this year. But next year when my 3rd promotes we are at risk at being denied the intradistrict permit just like this year due to zoning. We are 1 mile from Luther and 2.5 from Huerta. I will be taking 4 kids to 3 schools and I do not want to learn a new school, new teachers and a new community. I do not want my daughter’s access to choir and other art programs limited due to the districts mismanaged budgeting cuts.
