It is rediculous and stupid of the college to force students in dorms to have a meal plan and then dictate to them how they can use those swipes.

This is so stupid. I will not be buying a meal plan next semester if this policy is going to be inforced.

I paid for these swipes I should be able to use them how I want to! Especially if my family (the people who really paid for these swipes) came to visit!

They're not paying for our meal plan; we are. Let us control what we paid for.

This is a terrible policy. The meal plans of students are prepaid in advance. There is no reason that ETown should be able to deny students the ability to use their swipes however they see fit. I had my entire family come eat meals with me on multiple occasions during my four years attending Etown. Had I not been able to use my swipes for them to eat, it would have cost them that much more money to eat there on top of what they already paid to get me that meal plan in the first place. Besides, it is not like the marketplace food is anything super spectacular that it would deserve having to be paid for twice by family and/or guests of the students.

You are paying for a given number of meals with the meal plan, they should be able to use them as they wish for family or friends. The meals are paid for.

I always enjoyed having the flexibility to swipe in my parents when they came to visit me at Etown. Perhaps a better solution would be making each swipe worth a certain dollar amount, which accrues throughout the course of the semester, with a minimum charge equal to the lowest meal plan. This would ensure that students still use the Marketplace to get a real meal, but provide flexibility in times when parents or friends come to visi.

As an alumnus of this institution, I do believe that the students should have the right to decide if they want to purchase a meal plan. Also, if they do so, they should have the right to invite family, and or friends to come and eat with them, and to use their own meal swipes as they please. They purchased the plan, they should be allowed to use it as they wish!

My parents are generous enough to pay for my college education, please don't make them pay even more to eat here during their visits. What differences does it make if I use the swipe or if someone else does?

I am a parent of a student. My daughter always has extra meal swipes due to the fact that there are meals planned even for during breaks when students must leave campus. We visit Etown and our daughter for events she is involved in and have highly enjoyed our meals at the Marketplace. If the meals are placed onto her ID card she should be able to use them for whoever she wishes. If this change is enforced, it will be another issue which may be a deal-breaker when new students are deciding among colleges

I totally agree with this petition. Frankly, if Elizabethtown wants to insist the students buy this very expensive meal plan for four years, they should continue to allow them to use it as they see fit.
