Let's "fight" for Sage Rizzo to walk at graduation!

Sage Rizzo has been a student at Delaware Valley for the past 12 school years. Sage, more commonly referred to by coaches, teachers and fellow classmates as "Rizz", has been involved in playing sports since age 5 in our community. Starting his 7th grade year, he played football for the Warriors at DDMS and continued to play football into high school and into his senior year. After a serious injury his Freshman year, he did not give up. Sage enjoys being involved. He has volunteered at Delaware Valley's football camp for kids and other athletic activities as well. Socially, Sage is a goofball and very well liked. Everybody loves him. As for Rizz's citizenship at school, he has remained behaved for the most part aside from a few small incidents all silly teenage boys have. He is a lover, not a fighter. He is someone you could go to for advice and a good laugh. Sage is very easy-going and respectful, but there is one thing Sage has not had patience for since he was a very young age. Sage hates bullies.

On Friday April 8th, Sage was shoulder checked by a bully in the school cafeteria. Sage was getting his breakfast, minding his own business when somebody force fully bumps into him. When Sage asked why he had bumped into him, the young man began verbally attacking Sage. Sage multiple times explained to this young man that he did not want to lose his opportunity to go to prom or graduation knowing it would break the heart of his family, Sage was being bullied. After Sage explained this to the young man, the young man began to physically attack Sage. Sage was trying to use restraint without hurting this young man at all so he didn't get into any trouble. After Sage was hit multiple times in the face and temple, Sage had no other choice but to stand up to the bully and protect himself! The rule at school is you are supposed to cover your head and yell for help, nobody was there to help Sage. He had no other choice. Unfortunately, since Sage DEFENDED himself, he has been suspended for fighting in school and so far, DVHS has taken his prom and graduation away from him. He is very saddened as his family is. Sage is very upset this happened, but glad he was there to stand up to bullying! Thankfully, Sage was there to defend himself. The young man could have picked on a kid that did not know what to do to defend himself and could have wound up very hurt, and even worse, possibly hurt himself from feeling embarrassed and bullied. Here is a petition to show to our school board that Sage deserves to walk at graduation, not only for his diploma, but let Sage walk for anti-bullying! Sage was not the first person to be bullied by this young man, but we hope he is the last.

This week, Sage's family is going to the school to try and talk to them about making an exception and let him go to prom and walk at graduation. We will have this petition accessible to show them how much everybody cares and agrees he should not get this taken away from him. Thank you!

Rizz's birthday is October... which is anti bullying month. Let's take a stand!

As an incentive, if Sage gets to walk or not, we will donate 10% of the amount of signatures we get on this petition to Rachel's Challenge. For more info, please visit rachelschallenge.org
