Per the current HOA rules , freestanding and cemented basketball hoops are not permitted to be visible. There are several residents who have lived here for over 5 years with these in their driveways.
Per information gathered from the Residents of Copper Ridge Facebook thread , this topic was addressed during a July 2018 meeting, where the board decided not to pursue violation letters as long as the basketball nets were in good working condition and out of the street. The rules were not officially amended.
I have put this petition together to formally request that these rules be updated to permit freestanding basketball hoops as long as they are in good working condition and out of the street.
Once signatures are collected I will forward this to the HOA .

The board remains silent despite the number of people who have signed on to this. It is exhausting to keep pushing when they refuse to acknowledge the reality of how we live here but I am not walking away.

Seeing this much support confirms I am not the only one frustrated by these outdated rules. It has been a long road but this momentum gives me the energy to keep pushing the board for a formal change.

I have never driven through the neighborhood and thought wow that basketball hoop in the driveway is really bringing the neighborhood down. There are bigger battles to fight!
What harm does a basketball hoop case. None. What good does it do...plenty!!! If our children want to play in our yard with their own equipment why is this HOAs concern. Let the children play basketball people!!!
I would rather see kids outside playing than on phones. Healthy and having fun. Pro basketball goals.
Please allow our kids to enjoy their time outside without the constant removal of the basketball goal. Staying active is healthy for their mental.
Let kids be kids!!! If children are outside exercising, let them! A basketball hoop is not an eyesore- and even if one feels it is, it is no more an eyesore than one cemented in the ground. This double standard in the CCR’s is absurd. And if we want to discuss eyesores, let’s discuss the lawn decor overtaking front yards, or backyards on display with overgrown yards and unfenced pools. Bigger fish to fry than basketball hoops that encourage health, exercise, and teamwork.
Take your damn kids to the park. Residential areas are not parks. Homeowners/renters have a right to peace and quiet in their own homes! Basketball is a terrible nuisance. Add shouting kids to that! TAKE YOUR DAMN KIDS TO THE PARK! Homeowners have as much a right to peace and quiet. THE WORLD DOES NOT RUN AROUND KIDS.
Long past time to formalize this change.

We've been trying to do this for years now. As far as I understand about 3 years back it was approved. It's in the notes but it was never changed in the bylaws. I believe this is about the time we were changing management companies.
