Let our Boys Walk

Walking should not be a privilege it should be a right. Them guys worked 13 years for this to be taken away because of a simple joke.

Unless there is a policy in place that states what they did exempts them from walking, I say quit with the subjective decisions made by the district administration and school board. It is time to take back our school and allow our boys to walk.

It saddens me as a recent alumni of Green River High School to see such a petition in existence. As a small school in a sheltered corner of Wyoming, Green River High School should consider itself lucky that this is about the most dramatic thing to happen in years. Compared to school across the US that lose students to gang violence, drugs, and many drop outs from schools that simply fail their students. Kids across the nation would surely give a lot to be able to walk across the stage with a diploma from a school like Green River High School. While yes, rules were violated and warnings were surely given about the repercussions of such violations, I believe an alternative punishment could easily be used. Not knowing the specifics of what happened, I can't comment on what the alternate punishment should be. What I will say is that whatever the prank was it just doesn't seem fitting to not allow those involved to walk. It is not fitting to the character of Green River High School and to the lessons it teaches its students. High School is a trying time for all those involved, and one of the proudest moments you can give a young adult is that sense of accomplishment from being handed their first diploma in a gymnasium full of people cheering for them. Yet the administration and those involved in this decision intend to strip them of that moment. Not only would that effect the student, but it would effect the family, friends, and teachers that have supported those students through their public school careers. Green River High School would be sending those kids out into the world with shame and guilt, instead of the confidence to take on the world like I had just one year ago. In signing this petition and sharing it, I hope that I have done my part to help those students to walk. I also hope it will help to preserve the image of Green River High School as a great place to have gone to school. Should this punishment be carried out then it would only serve to besmirch that

I believe maybe doing work before the end of the school year or something but taking away something they have worked four years to receive when those students could've dropped out. Think you're making it a waste of everybody's time by taking away something they have worked hard to achieve.

This is the 1 goal these kids have worked for. It wouldn't be fair to not let them walk.

Make them clean bathrooms and take out garbage's this week and what left of next week. Punish them with chores!!! Don't take away getting to walk with their class. It will be the only time for some to ever walk and graduate. Don't take that moment of a lifetime away from them.. God forbid anyone makes mistakes anymore without getting the book thrown at them!! As a graduate from grhs in the glass of 14 we did a senior prank and so did 13, 12, 11, and so on. It's not fair

C'mon GRHS. You're better than this. Let these boys walk. They've worked so hard to get where they're at. Don't take away one of the most important days in their lives for a tiny mistake.

These are good kids that made a poor decision. Their punishment is just to harsh. They have worked so hard for 13 years, and I don't care who you are high school is not easy. Some of these kids are 4.0 students, I think not letting them walk does more harm than good.

Please let those boys graduate with their class!!! They made a bad judgement but don't punish them this way. They deserve to be able to graduate with their class!!!
