Let Ms. Corrado Stay at Humbercrest
We the undersigned have come to know that early childhood educator Kim Corrado has been surplused and won’t be returning to Humbercrest in September 2022. This letter is to express our disappointment at this loss and to ask that this decision be reversed.
Kim is a supportive, nurturing, empathetic and highly capable educator. Through her natural rapport with youngsters, and professionalism, Kim has not only taught our children but also consistently gone above and beyond to work 1:1 with children who need extra support, and prepare children to transition out of kindergarten and into senior grades with confidence.
We all witnessed the challenges teachers encountered during the pandemic. Kim rose to that challenge and worked in partnership with teacher Mike Wobowsk to give the kids a sense of normality, security, and warmth during an exceptionally difficult time. That kind of devotion -- and grit -- is rare.
Kim is a trusted friend who has contributed to Humbercrest kids’ education, happiness and well-being. It would be a shame to deprive all those future kindergarteners of such a remarkable teacher.
It is our understanding that the reason for Kim being surplused is due to a shortage of two students. We recognize that school administration is complex, but to us, and hopefully to you, this gap seems small -- too small to lose such a valuable resource. Surely, something can be done to retain someone who has given so much to the school, the community, and most importantly, to the kids.
TDSB, please reconsider.
