The local historical committee has decided against my will to make my house "historical" allowing them to tell me what I can and can not do to my house. This violates my personal property rights. By all accounts of the people I have talked to who have had to deal with them, they are "most unreasonable". I'm not the type of guy to paint my house purple or add a large glass enclosed swimming pool so the external appearance will remain the same. I should have the right to do as I please without anyone else's approval. Several influential property owners have been allowed to opt out of the zone change without anyone else told how to go about it. Several other property owners were not even notified of the up coming change. I doubt the city council will vote the change down so my only real option is to opt out.
