He was an awesome teacher who had a tragic death. Students and parents loved this man. I consider him responsible for my son getting his diploma. He should be celebrated for all of the good that he did for so many students at MBIT. To forbid this is wrong on every level. He loved his students.

A teacher that impacted so many lives so positively should be mentioned, discussed and celebrated. Period.

A man who has a memorial plaque at MBIT should be able to be mentioned during the graduation speech.

This is so typical of an out of touch Admin that lives in their own self inflated world of importance and domination that they forget why they are there in the first place!
I say picket out front and the kids should start a chant anytime a teacher wants to talk, if we can't talk, you can't either!

When will administrators realize that real life, although painful and messy at times, is the greatest teacher for our young people. Don't they realize an open heart felt aknowledgement of their teacher is a way for his students to heal.

It's funny because Tully was always a stiffler regarding rules and chances are if he was here, he would tell us to listen to the admins.
However he's not; my advice is if they don't allow Lucia to speak about him, she should say what she has to and at the end talk about Tully quickly.

Content of a graduation speech, if appropriate, should be the choice of the speaker. Remembering a wonderful mentor at a time when the student body, staff and family are gathered together in celebration of the graduates' accomplishments is highly appropriate. Any decision otherwise negates the emotions of those students who feel the need to say "thank you for helping us get here."

Let her speak. This man did Alot for my child. This man had medical problems that were not his fault. These problems could happen and do to thousands of people. He should be praised for what he did for our children.

Ridiculous that as these students graduate, prepared, by you, to transition to their adult lives you continue to try to confine their spirit. Why you would be censoring them any further than keep it family friendly, is beyond me. You're robbing many of an opportunity to honor and celebrate one of your own.

Spoke with Erin in the marketing department at MBIT, who informed me that they would not allow Lucia to give the speech because they "reserve the right to edit speeches at the ceremony" and would not give me any further information.
Nothing but BS. Way to repay a man who did so much for that school.
Hope this petition passes.
