While my daughter was able to twirl in high school, her university does not have a football team or band...and yet a simple request has garnered her the ability to be the university's twirler at all events. When you have someone with the desire, do not shut them down. Good luck sweet girl!

Twirling on the field is very important for twirlers. It gives them a different sense of confidence than competitive twirling. The more we allow twirlers to showcase their talents, the more interest and knowledge we x an bring to this amazing sport. She's only a senior once. Let her twirl!

Why on earth would it be a problem to have a twirler for this band? Having auxiliary units such as flag corp or a twirler gets more kids involved and isn't that the goal?

The Band Director needs to understand that it is his responsibility to develop students into young adults by exploration and creating good memories of high school. Take your responsibility to educate students seriously Mr. Band Director! Who knows - maybe Kristy will increase the desire of others to twirl also. Kristy should be allowed to twirl or I would be in the Principal's office!

This hits close to home. Back in the day, I wanted to twirl for my school, but the band director didn't want a twirler to detract from his band. I was devastated. I wish you luck and hope you will be allowe to twirl for your school.

Same problem at my daughters school! Only we have zero twirlers. Not even one & we have at least 6 in the school zone that have been twirling for years with state & international titles!

Taurine is an amazing sport. And people enjoy it and love to see the talent and are amazed by what the girls can do with their baton. I think having her on the field will bring more people to your games and they will have something to look forward to and enjoy seeing her twirl.

Kristi don't give up the fight girl! As a former North Hall twirler (1994-1996) , we did not have this rule for competitions, but we did have a band director who was not thrilled with having twirlers. I cannot imagine being told only 1 twirler. We had 2 my sophomore year and 3 my junior and senior year. Keep on fighting this fight, and I pray that you get thousands of signatures.
