For the past years, university's academic calendar has been designed in such away that it neglects the Indian students. Deepavali celebration is given the least holidays compared to Hari Raya and Chinese New Year. Aidilfitri, Aidil Adha and Chinese New Year had been given sufficient school holiddays but not for the Deepavali Celebration. this year, the indian students only get 2 ddays oh holidays which is the ordinary weekend holidays. Deepavali falls on the 29th October and the holiday is only till 30th of October.

This means the students who are staying far from the university that they are studying will have to only one day to spend with their family on the 29th of October as they have to spend the next day travelling back to their respective universities.

this is totally neglecting the rights of indian students to celebrate Deepavali with families. This petition urges the goverment to take into consideration the indian students while structuring the academic calendar. Indian students have the rights to celebrate their festival too as our friends from other races. This is a form of discrimination and we strongly object this.

in short, this petition urges the authority, epecially the Ministry of Higher Education to:

1. Give extra holidays for the Deepavali Celebration

2. Take all the celebrations into consideration in structuring academic calendar for universities every year.
