Taking these children away from their grandparents is shameful. Do the right thing and let them see Dan's parents.

Wendy, if you truly love your kids, allow them to know, and experience, their grandparents love. It will help them heal somewhat the great loss of a loving father.

So sad for not only Dans parents but the children....they have no only lost their father and their last name, but part of their heritage and family. I fear for them in so many ways. Selfish selfish people

Ruth and Phil are wonderful people who have gone through a great deal of pain in dealing with the death of their son. Not being allowed to see their grandchildren has added another level of pain. I sincerely hope that moving forward the grandparents will be allowed to see their grandchildren and bond with them. A warm relationship with family can be a benefit to everyone concerned. Hopefully we can move forward in the future and do what is morally and ethically right and allow Phil and Ruth to see their grandchildren. It is the right thing to do!

As an attorney, a mother and a grandmother, I ask you to search your conscience and holy tradition to allow Dan's parents to spend quality time with their grandchildren.
Thank you!

In this situation, Dan's children should not be denied the in-person participation of their grandparents in the kids' lives. The unconditional love of grandparents is too important to prevent that love from reaching Dan's boys.

No child should be denied the ability to meet their grandparents. But in this circumstance, it is an absolute necessity!

I knew the great grandparents and grandparents. These are good people who deserve better treatment! You are harming your children from keeping them away from family. Wake up!

Children should never be denied to see their aging grandparents. This is a dis service to the children as well as their grandparents. Their father would have wanted that. Respect for his wishes.

Your kids deserve to have a relationship with their grandparents. They lost their dad already. They don't deserve to lose his family.

The Markels can never bring back their son so at least give them the opportunity to see their grandchildren to help them through this horrible tragedy..Try to let your emotions take a back seat to what is best for the children. If they are not allowed to see their fathers parents they will find out the truth eventually and that will place you in a very bad position. Please do not be so insensitive and let your logic prevail and do what is fair for all before it is too late.If you care for your children you will see the future consequences of your decision.

Please rise above your sadness, anger and hurt. Be a good person and mom and let your children see their fathers family. You will have much regret if they hold it against you when they are able to make their own decisions

Your boys, Dan's boys, will learn about their father and his death on the internet when they are old enough. You cannot shield them from that. If you do not give them their family, their paternal grandparents, they will find out about the truth and they will resent you forever. You will lose them forever.
I know because something similar happened to me. I will never contact my family for what they did, and it has been over 30 years! They do not know about my wife or my 3 kids and never will. My kids know about them as I am transparent about it all to them. And they chose to believe me because they can see the truth and know that I am being absolutely transparent and open with them.
You may gain something, your sons' devotion while they are too young to know anything, but you will lose them forever after once they are old enough to want to know for themselves and can easily find the truth on the internet.
I assume you aren't telling them the truth because you have not granted them any time with their paternal grandparents who could not have done any harm to them for you to cut them off as you have.
You are in for a rude awakening that will be crushing. I feel sorry not for you at all, but for your boys and their paternal grandparents. I know exactly what they are going through and what they will go through. They deserve better.
Your only hope in maintaining any type of relationship with them when they get older is to be open and transparent with them ... and let them see their grandparents!!!!

You're older & wiser now. Your intransigence serves no purpose because as those boys age they will also know this story & eventually hate you for keeping their dad's family from their lives.
