I believe AmeriCorps NCCC needs to be more understanding of the situation and a lot less severe with the punishment. It doesn't seem right to let these two corps members, who are clearly spoken of very highly, let go for a seemingly petty wrongdoing. NCCC has been, in my opinion, too liberal in their dismissal of corps members.

In the absence of direct leadership by the team leader and ATL, individuals require more guidance as supervision is not present, especially in cases of technicality and misunderstanding.

Although I have not served on a team with Boom, I have spent a good amount of time with him. His good moral character and enthusiasm towards helping others is an inspiration. He is a valuable asset to the Americorps program. A dismissal seems like an extremely harsh punishment, given the circumstances of the situation.

As a former member of the AmeriCorps NCCC program, I know first hand how hard it is to predict certain circumstances that occur when you have a team of young adults all sharing one vehicle. Though I am not fully aware of this situation, I do know that staff could be a bit more understanding of the difficulties that come with being in the field.

I have been thoroughly disgusted with NCCC's treatment of it's Corps Members and Team Leaders of Class XXIa. I am currently serving on the Sacramento campus and served in Class XXa on a team with Christie. Christie chose to do a second year to continue to improve the Southwestern United States out of the goodness of her heart. She has been an ideal member to all she has served beside as she is respectful, kind, funny, and a great listener. She is exemplary and would never intentionally put her team at any risk. I agree with what Korie Happy has stated above, "all good is overlooked." Jolie, I think you made a mistake.

Christie and I were on the same unit together last year in NCCC. Christie is a hard worker that always put her teammates before her self. She is valiant in her service and represents AmeriCorps in a positive way. I knowshe is getting things done for America, & is enlightening others to find themselves in servic.e

I have had the pleasure of working with both of these Corps Members in one form or another. Christie is a valuable asset to any team and, as a second year, was a great role model for me. Boom always has a positive energy which radiates onto his team and those around him. I would speak nothing but in the highest regards to both of these members, and hope the program would not look past their impeccable track records. These two individuals are an incredible benefit to the program.

This program is designed to help communities as well as build leaders. It seems to be doing the opposite by sending home two valuable, hard working, corps members, especially in a time when disaster is deveatating the exact site where they were working. It is said almost every day during training that no one is perfect, and yet at the first time of trouble Chrisitie and Boom were thrown from the program. Christie is a second year corps member who is looked at with respect, and had been a vital team member to every team she has been on. Boom is a hard working, team morale boosting, amazing person. For them to be sent home is a disgrace. Yes a mistake was made. But the punishment does not fit the crime. To throw out the hard work of 8 months over 1 error does not seem reasonable. All good is overlooked and the one mistake is being projected.

Although I have not had the pleasure of serving on the same team as either Boom or Christie, my interactions with them during NCCC training have been nothing less than positive and encouraging. Both of them effortlessly build community and bring people together. They have been a source of support and continue to grow as strong leaders. Yes, a mistake was made, but that should not discredit the consistent effort and dedication to service they have put forthe throughout the past eight months.

In all honesty, there is no reason that the highest form of punishment should have been termination. The vehicle was not damaged, there were no signs of alcohol or drugs, and those are the biggest reasons for termination. Christie and Boom are two of the most beautiful, loving, and out-going people here in Americorps. They deserve the chance to prove that this one incident will never happen again, and they can't do that from their homes. Bring them back and let them do what they came here to do, and that is to serve and graduate with the Class of 21A.

Boom provides an uplifting positive energy to people that is irreplaceable. He has a strong work ethic and he is a team player. Though protocol was breached, I think that a second opportunity should be allotted, because there was at one point a scheduled trip for the team. Boom has had a clean record to the best of my knowledge prior to this incident. It would be detrimental to his team and the communities he is serving, especially with the disaster situation in place for him to not return to service.

I believe that both Boom Sai and Christie Buzzell should not have been dismissed from AmeriCorps NCCC. Though they did break protocol to visit other teams in San Antonio, there was a scheduled trip for there entire team to visit. To the best of my knowledge both corps members haven't had any major prior offenses and I believe that they should be given a second chance.

I think Boom and Christie are amazing people and workers. They always have great attitudes, everyone loves them, and they always make people smile. I think it's kind of absurd for them to be getting dismissed for the reason they are.

Christie has very clearly shown her dedication to this program by returning even after receiving surgery. Boom has been a excellent worker and has given one hundred percent every day on the job. These two individuals are exemplary corps members and deserve to stay.

Both Corps members have shown their potential to be praise worthy AmeriCorps representatives and praise worthy members of the community they've been exposed to. They have developed relationships and supported their fellow corps members on multiple occasions. And yes they have done something negligent, but that shouldn't negate the good they've done-- which is what their dismissal will accomplish.. Much o the societal ills we try to work towards remedying were contributed towards slight negligence, but we acknowledge their importance and work towards the betterment of that community. Forgiveness is necessary in that pursuit. And if we value thi quality in our program then we should not hold it exclusive towards those outside AmeriCorps we should grant it onto our team members.

Boom and Christie were both an essential part of our team. They were two of the hardest workers and their positivity continuously boosted team morale. Our team is severely disadvantaged without them, especially with the recent flood damage and the need that this town now has. Their amazing work ethic and personalities are extremely important to the team during this time. Our team is devastated about losing these two members.
