The existing wall of Caffreys that is on Route 9 is a part of Lacey history. Before Caffreys, it was Gordon's diner, and before that it was a service station in the early 1950's. It has significance to the town that we treasure and enjoy living in. The front of Caffreys is not the problem, the destroyed back is. Route 9 will not be widened in our life time or at anytime, so the "officials " have told the residents of this wonderful town. Leave it be. Let them rebuild the icon the way the owners want to. IMO, sounds like the township wants to make some $ from Caffreys misfortune.
