My friend Abby is a junior at my school, she wants to take her girlfriend Ayonna to prom. Every year, Abby has taken Ayonna to homecoming, and it has never been a problem. We are in a Catholic School in Maryland. However, she is not allowed to go to prom with Ayonna. We have 6 days until prom, and they just got informed today that they are not allowed to go due to being same sex. In my eyes, it is just like telling someone they cannot go to prom due to race, it is discrimination. I do not think it is right. They have both spent time and money on making prom perfect, and because of close minded people, they cannot celebrate an important milestone in their lives. If they can go to homecoming together, as a couple, why not prom? There is no difference. I do believe they should be treated as any other couple and get the same treatment. So what if they're same sex? They're human beings and should be treated as so. We all have rights, if you do not like yours being taken away, why take theirs?
