Let Acclaimed Iranian Director Rokhsareh Ghaemmaghami into NZ

Dear oh dear. This sounds like fodder for a documentary in the offing - except no one would be believe it. So dumb NZIS.

Freedom of speech - the privilege to express our views and values in an ever changing world. Uncensored and from individuals view point, the world thorough their eyes; shared with whom ever chooses to engage.

Sounds like the immigration officer did not in fact look at any supporting documentation or even do a cursory Google search. Her salary is evidently not a very good use of NZ taxpayer money.

This is really embarrassing, highly prejudicial and cannot be what New Zealand hospitality to award winning artists is all about. New Zealand's reputation is at stake here and Ms. Ghaemmaghami should be treated as an honoured guest on an international tour, not a security risk!

Once again, Immigration NZ shows itself to be a complete embarrassment.

What an absurd and ignorant decision to refuse her attendance at the Doc Edge film festival here.

Roksareh is a human rights activist committed to effecting change in her homeland, not some flight risk. Please re-consider your visa decision. Thanks.

I object strongly to this awful, shortsighted, bigoted decision made by NZ Immigration.

Please reverse this mistaken, myopic or malicious decision.

There is absolutely no reason to prohibit entry for this film maker

Film is such an important cultural exchange! I can attest having taken films to Bangladesh and China what an impact film can have. The world to date has such a positive impression of New Zealand - hoping this is a matter merely needing clarification.

I've met this woman at another film festival in the US where our films were both screening. She is the real deal. Let her in for the festival.

Please review this decision ,it is outrageous

Filmmakers are great cultural ambassadors who use their art form to help us learn about cultures that are not our own. Too bad that the NZ Immigration Service resorts to profiling to keep an accomplished film director like Rokshareh Ghaemmaghami from meeting up with NZ audiences!

Some days I am embarrassed being a New Zealander, after reading about this it is one of those days.

You are totally wrong Immigration. She is an international leader in her field. Let her in!
