Lent Rise School, Burnham should not become a stand alone Academy

I believe that conversion to a stand alone Academy is against the best interests of the pupils of Lent Rise School. The Headteacher will be more involved in the running of the school and will have less time to devote to ensuring high standards of teaching and learning. It is likely that the school will have less money overall due to the need to employ additional staff to undertake all personnel, health and safety and financial functions as well as buying in services such as special educational needs provision.
The current consultation process is flawed as:
1) Information on the pros and cons of Academy status has not been supplied to parents, information of the future governance and curriculum has not been detailed and the consultation period is less than a month.
2) The Governing body took the decision to proceed to investigate converting to Academy status without any presentation of reasons against Academy conversion, only those for. Minutes of these meeting were not taken and there is no official record of them.
