Let's honour Len Deighton

Len Deighton, one of the finest thriller and spy authors the UK has ever produced, is 80 on 18 February 2009. Globally recognised as one of the finest writers of his generation, through classic books like The Ipcress File, Berlin Game and Bomber Deighton has helped to define modern popular fiction and, through the creation of the classic 'Harry Palmer' character, modern cinema too. His output is prolific; not only is he a leading fiction writer, he has also written extensively - and to much acclaim - on military history and gastronomy. Yet as a writer he remains unacknowledged by the honours system of the UK for his contribution to literature. By signing this petition, you will express your support for seeing this omission rectified appropriately in the next honours list.
