Since 1913, Marijuana has been prohibited in California. In 2009 alone there were 858,408 arrests on basis of Cannabis charges. Not only is the prohibition of Cannabis incarcerated countless individuals for non-violent crimes. It is costing billions of tax payer's dollars to catch, try, and imprison those who have Cannabis based arrests repeatedly without any real positive change and outcome. The War on Drugs should not be a war on the masses, nor a war on society, or the criminalization of low-income people of color it should better be focused in the protection of people. Cannabis has gained a negative image by the alcohol and tobacco industry, while the alcohol and tobacco industry are responsible for countless deaths, fatal diseases, and abuse due too alcohol and tobacco . Cannabis is a rich crop that is a economically beneficial substance. In fact, there are many health benefits that accompany Cannabis (Glaucoma, Vomiting,an aid during Chemotherapy) dating back to 2,737 B.C.  Also, since it is the number one cash crop, if it becomes legal and tax it, that is millions-billions of dollar going back into Californian economy.

Let us as a people in a democratic country use our tax dollars for  EDUCATION, REHABILITATION, and SUPPORT for the California economy, which is cheaper than INCARCERATION and yields greater results.
