This petition is to get Muay Thai competitions/ matches legal in the great state of West Virgina . To legalize Amateur and pro Muay Thai matches /events . For the insurance requirements for such events to not exceed the requirements of any other boxing match or martial arts competition in the state. For far to long this great state has outlawed this great art/sport and it's rules from competitions. I ask you to let your voice be heard and let those know that We The People Of West Virgina want this art/sport legal in amateur and pro competitions. Along with making it legal we ask the the state NOT make it to where promoters cannot afford to hold such events by not making the insurance requirement too high. This art/sport is no more dangerous than any other boxing, combat sport or martial arts event, and We The People of West Virgina want the insurance requirements the same as any other boxing or martial arts event. This petition IS to get Muay Thai an equal seat at the table so to speak. Many people are forced to go to other states to compete or spectate Muay Thai events due to the current West Virgina laws . If you do not like Muay Thai or do not wish to attend a event that is your choice and I respect that. I only ask that you respect the choices of others who do want this art/sport in our great state. Not only do I ask you to sign this petition but I ask you to call your local Representative and tell them to sign it as well. Thank you for your time in this matter .
I have spent this week reviewing the current athletic commission insurance mandates to prepare our formal request for legislative review. We are now drafting a comparison document that maps West Virginia regulations against states where Muay Thai is already sanctioned. Expect an update once the first round of inquiries is submitted to the relevant oversight committees.

The current level of interest has reached a point where I am now coordinating meetings with representatives to discuss the necessary legislative adjustments. I am currently finalizing a formal proposal that outlines equitable insurance requirements to present to the athletic commission.

THATS RIGHT. Keep the money in WV and stop forcing people to go to PA just to compete. Let them fight.

the insurance fees are just a way to kill the sport. just tax it like boxing and be done with it already.
