I have chosen to live in Bloomington and to start a small food service business here largely because the food truck / street food scene here is so alive, cooperative, and accessible. The mobile food service sector specifically complements the mission and goals outlined in the strategic plan of the Bloomington Entertainment & Arts District (BEAD), and helps to keep Bloomington on the map as a culinary tourism destination. Mobile food vendors also help keep our community safe by increasing eyes and ears on our streets, especially during late night hours. I have witnessed first-hand the extraordinary business partnerships that have developed and flourished between mobile food vendors and downtown businesses. These partnerships have only proven to increase downtown economic development, strengthen small businesses in our community, and to create synergistic relationships between these businesses and with community members. Without access to downtown vending sites and special events, mobile food vendors could not thrive and grow in Bloomington. Restricting the number of mobile food vendors and where they can operate in the city is a drastic step backwards in the economic and cultural development of our community. "Keep Bloomington Bloomington! Get People Here! Keep People Here!" Keep the Streets Open to Food Trucks and Carts!

If the city passes this new ordinance (yet another unneeded one) you will be limited free markets and the citizens right to choose!

Food trucks bring new things to this town and food to people when few other places are open, and can set up in the parts of town where food is too far to walk in the cold! Legalizing makes a sustainable way for people bringing food to the masses without needing a permanent location and the freedom to go where the demand is which is awesome for a small business owner. Lets be supportive of all kinds of small businesses in our community and celebrate their ambition to bring the locals their clever nosh.

Given the current requirements for obtaining a food truck/cart permit in re: an industrial kitchen, I can't see how this isn't local restaurants "eating their own". Nobody goes to a hotdog cart on the square to have a sitdown business lunch. This is restauranteurs not wanting to have to work to attract business. I often walk straight past food trucks on my way to a restaurant I'd planned to visit. If your restaurant is worth the customer's time, it will have staying power. If not, it will go belly up. Give these folks a chance to do the same.

with the proper drafting of a food vendors ordinance there is no reason why vendors on the street and vendors in brick and mortar businesses cannot coexist!!!!
