Dear Township of Teaneck Councilmembers,
We urge you to vote affirmatively for Ordinance Number 4-2022 on February 8, 2022, to legalize backyard chickens in Teaneck.
We want ourselves and our neighbors to be able to raise chickens for companionship and for healthy, ethically sourced eggs that will help reduce our carbon footprints.
Chickens are legal in densely populated cities like New York, Newark, and Los Angeles, there is no reason why backyard chickens would not thrive in our suburban community.
The proposed ordinance takes into account neighbor concerns and allows for the enforcement of minimum standards of care for chickens and neighbors alike by Teaneck residents.
Please vote "Yes" for Ordinance Number 4-2022.

The Township Council is finally taking notice of our movement because of the sheer volume of support behind this ordinance. Post the petition link on Facebook and tag your local council representative to keep the pressure on them before the vote.

Please change the law so we can have hens. There are lots of bergen county town that are starting to allow them.
Obviously roosters would not be allowed. Feeding the chickens food scraps is better than throwing it down the garbage disposal
Chickens are legal in densely populated cities like New York, Newark, and Los Angeles, there is no reason why backyard chickens would not thrive in our suburban community!!
Yes! Please allow chickens in teaneck. This is not out of this world. They are smaller than a dog or cat and hens don’t make loud noises like barking. Please be open minded and say yes!
After 85 years, it's time for Teaneck to remove this antiquated and restrictive ban on a normal use of private property.

You guys need to back off on all of these laws that limit us. Chickens are a good thing, they eat bugs and food straps. They also make eggs and produce fertilizer for flower beds and gardens. All you need to do is limit roosters, so there isn't an early morning noise issue.
