Since I’m a single woman traveling by myself I truly like the use of an app to set up ride and to pay thru the app. For safety you also get the name of your driver and you get model and color of car.

On an island like St. Croix, where shared taxi vans (often called "safaris" or "taxi buses") are the primary mode of transport, the system is efficient for daytime, high-traffic routes but leaves significant gaps in the lives of residents and visitors. ​The most compelling reason to support ride-sharing on St. Croix is the "After 6:00 PM" Crisis. ​1. The Death of the Night Economy ​In St. Croix, the taxi van system essentially "goes dark" after sunset. While you can easily catch a van between Christiansted and Frederiksted for a few dollars during the day, finding one after 6:00 PM or 7:00 PM is nearly impossible. This creates a massive barrier for: ​Hospitality Workers: Many locals working late shifts at restaurants or hotels are forced to rely on expensive private taxis or "gypsy" (unlicensed) cabs because the affordable vans have stopped running. ​Safety: Without reliable transportation, people are more likely to take risks with drinking and driving or walking along unlit, narrow island roads. ​Tourism Growth: Visitors often stay confined to their resorts after dark because they are afraid of being stranded or don't want to pay $80+ for a private round-trip to a local dinner spot. ​2. Service Beyond the "Main Veins" ​The taxi vans dominate because they stick to high-volume, predictable routes (like the Queen Mary Highway). If you live or are staying in a more remote area like East End or the North Shore, the vans rarely reach you. Ride-sharing uses GPS-based dispatching that incentivizes drivers to service these "transportation deserts," providing door-to-door service that a fixed-route van simply cannot offer. ​3. Financial Transparency and Safety ​The current taxi system in the USVI is largely cash-based and operates on a complex "tariff" (rate) sheet that can be confusing and lead to overcharging. Ride-sharing introduces: ​Upfront Pricing: You know the cost before you get in, eliminating the "tourist tax" or "negotiation stress." ​Digital Footprint

This is amazing and needs to be backed and not fined!

This service is definitely needed by all especially the seniors and, tourist Taxi vans are hard to locate if not on main road. All people more independence to control their lives and travel needs.

I am all for this! When you travel as much as I do to this island, getting from the airport to the hotel and back again when needed is important. Getting a ride back to the airport can be challenging, When you schedule a pickup and no one shows up, or you have to coerce the driver to pick you up for a certain amount is very frustrating. Getting receipts can also be a challenge for work. Please implement!

Our tourism based business suffers daily from taxis that are either unreliable or very overpriced (despite legal rates being set). VIHail has been a breath of fresh air.

So hard to get kind of transportation. Hard to navigate.

This would be a great opportunity for the USVI, I hope to use this service for my first visit at the end of January

Took a local taxi from Fredericksburg to christiansted, we thought we were going to die. We used multiple rideshare for the rest of the day. Much better experience.

A fair affordable ride share has been needed fore a very long time.
