I totally agree without my dogs by my side I don't think I'd want to face the world outside. They give me strength every day to tackle life

Just so people are aware even in UK ESA. Emotional support animal ant a thing its souly a USA thing. There is such thing as a psychiatric assistance dog, what I have what helps me with my depression and other mental health problems and I'm autistic.

Having a child suffer mentally and seeing how he turns to our dog for comfort is so special. Therefore this is very important to me as others could be helped in this way too.

Suffering myself from mental health problems I have several animals at home who help mainly my cat but being away at university I don't have her so I snuck a hamster in and she has been a god send to my mental health and times I haven't had her I've had a mental breakdown including one that landed me with the safeguarding team for 2 hours

I agree, dogs help people with mental illness better than humans can

I’ve seen first hand the tremendous difference pets can make to someone struggling with their mental health - animals don’t judge but are constant and loyal company and can bring a bit of brightness into otherwise overwhelming sadness.

Completely agree! Our pets keep us alive most days. They literally sense when we are sad. I was once sobbing on my kitchen, I was too focused on the bad to believe I could smile, i didnt want to! My dog was all over me, wagging her tail and would NOT stop licking my face. I kept trying to turn away but she wouldn't give up and suddenly she was making me smile and i was laughing. That's just one example of how amazing dogs are.

No matter what helps you get through a mental health illness if it’s your dog then it’s helping you focus and remain well why not .

'Unseen' illnesses need to be taken more seriously, and steps taken to help wherever possible! The companionship of a dog could make all the difference to somebody's quality of life!
