This petition is to allow people in Scotland to make a change in the law that could help get us out of this economical slump, there are several areas in which the legalisation of cannabis could help us to achieve this. Some of my ideas consist of following along the lines of Amsterdam in the sense of making the cannabis available through a government licensed hash cafe and actually growing the product locally by making use of farmers that are being effected by the current economical climate by allowing them to grow cannabis to subsidise there current losses or even make use of land that may not be able to use, also that Scottish residents would be aloud to grow for personal use to a limit of 3-5 plants. It would still would be illegal to sell as a private resident reasons being is that all cannabis would have a government tax on it not including home grown (may applies to seeds) also that cannabis would only be aloud to be sold by licensed premises other reason is the quality of the product is one the main reasons I would like it legalised so all crops would be government controlled and held to the same health and safety procedure as any other Scottish product. The other is by legalising it would remove the criminal aspect from it taking the money from the gangs and putting it into the country allowing us to grow. In turn would allow us to help more people and in more ways. Also as proven by Amsterdam there is a tourism market associated with cannabis which would generate a larger income for country not only with cannabis ,but in other areas also would reap the benefit i.e. hotels, food service and transport.
