Create a left hand turn lane off North Gloster Street onto ChickasawTrail

SUMMARY

Tupelo recently annexed Chickasaw Trail at the entrance into the Natchez Trace Villas off North Gloster Street. The traffic problem caused by a busy two lane road has worsened. Northbound traffic on North Gloster Street must come to a stop to allow for the traffic turning west onto Chickasaw Trail. This situation has resulted in more than 12 rear-end accidents over a five year period. In addition, the number of near misses is very high. North Gloster Street was formerly known as Highway 45 and Highway 145.

In February 2014, another rear-end accident occurred resulting in injuries. This dangerous intersection needs attention before there is a fatality recorded.
