LEAVE OUR FORMAT ALONE. I'm a coach of over 20 signed on young players. I know for a fact that half will leave if the format is changed. We piloted it last year and received nothing but negative feedback from players and parents alike. The 4v4 is too much like training and not like a 'real game' as the kids put it. My under 7's have been looking forward for there new season and this format for a long time now and if that was to be changed I know I would have a lot of upset and disappointed children so please read all of these comments and leave things alone!!!

For me the 4v4 format brings to many negatives and not enough positives. The bigger faster children find it too easy and it just promotes one player keep scoring the tries in the corner. 7v7 helps enforce more tackling and keeps the game more even which in turn makes the games closer, more challenging and more fun to play in and watch. And competitive games breeds better players.

the kids enjoy doing 7v7, they can learn more about the game i.e. play the ball, playing as a team, defensive line. I think it's very unrealistic of the rfl to think the teams have got enough coaching staff to make sure 20 kids get to play 4v4 each week. Please listen and have a rethink!!!

How are you suppose to give each player half a game when you have 18 - 20 kids and can only play 4/5 at a time? Instead of listening to boffins on some sports science degree who is making this one of their projects listen to the clubs, kids and coaches. The people who come up with these changes have never even played rugby in their lives. It is meant to be about enjoyment, you come down and watch 16 kids stood on the touch line while 4/5 are playing and see how enjoyable it is then.

Having played the game and involved now at a pretty high standard, I believe kids are the future, nothing else. And we as a sport have to do everything in our power to help them develop, by making the game as realistic as possible from a young age. Keep 7 v 7. It's not broke, don't fix!
