I live in Alaska and have a 3 year old son that i want to have go to pree school. The only preeschool in my community is a federaly funded program called Head Start. This program opperates on 80% federal funds. They choose the children that get to attend by the income level of there parents. Low income children first, if they don:t fill the class with low income children they will concider the rest of them by the lowest and working up. What this means is that if you pay more federal taxes than the other childrens parents, your child will be left behind. As Mine has. I only wish that he could have access to the same oppertunities as the other children. He is not wealthy, he is only three years old. He does not deserve to be left behind just because i work for a living. FEDERALY FUNDED programs should not be able to take tax dollars and then exclude you because you pay more taxes than the accepted applicents. I wish that all children had access to preeschools, not just low income ones. We should not have to pay taxes if we are going to be denied access to what those tax dollars provide. We certainly dont leave children behind because there parents dont pay any taxes. It is just moraly wrong to deny a child access to an education because his parents pay to much federal tax.
