That monument commemorates the men of Bell County who left their homes and families to stand up against an intrusive government. Some of these men had fought off Indians for their homesteads. Not one person alive today was a slave or owned a slave in the 1860s. If that statue offends you in ANY way, you are LOOKING for a reason to be offended. I found it highly insulting that part of 9th Street was renamed, but I didn’t cry victimhood over it.
