Please leave history alone. This War for Southern Independence was not about slavery as the liberal media wants you to believe. My ancestors who fought did not own salves but fought for the right of Texas to determine how it is to be governed. My ancestor clearly states this in his letters to family members. " He fought for Texas because the state asked him to", Captain E. P. Petty to his sister-in-law 1861.

Removing these statues is a way of telling the descendants of Confederate soldiers that their lives and ours do not matter, that none of us have contributed to the good of mankind. The time has come to view these statues as history, art, and a tribute to those men who defended their home regardless of their feelings about the war.

Texas was a member of the Confederate States of America. Leave the monument where it is.

I don't care who's monument it is. It is like destroying headstones in a cemetery to erase the history of the past. The past should be remembered, not erased. How can you learn what to do or not to do if there is no true history? This "progressive" (regressive) agenda is only designed to cause division and strife to tear this country apart. Reject being manipulated by others.

Whether or not people living today like it, the Confederate States of America existed and was the elected legitimate government of certain states and territories. Those AMERICANS who served in defense of their country ought to be remembered and honored for their service, many giving the last full measure.

No military monument from any war should ever be removed or damaged in any way.

tearing down monuments doesn't change any aspect of history. It creates new tension and conflict. A new page in history that is regrettable now and later.

I am a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. My 11-times grandfather fought in the Battle of Bunker Hill, just above his land (Moulton's Hill) on the Charlestown Peninsula near Boston. A "Minuteman" my grandfather is rolling over in his grave at the mockery people are making of this history right now! Ron Moulton, Patriot.
