The momentum generated by this petition has prompted a formal inquiry from regional press regarding our policy recommendations. I am currently finalizing a briefing document to present to the local council office to ensure our requirements are formally documented.

Standing up to hate is the best way of ensuring we learn the lessons of all genocides.
Today I attended my first remembrance in Wirral. Our children should be learning about the genocide that took place.
It's vital to call out & oppose those trying to create a climate of fear, scapegoating & division - and to stand up for human rights, tolerance, & compassion.
As a MEP with special responsibility for relations with Bosnia Herzegovina I have spent a lot of time learning about the genocide and other atrocities that occurred in the region during the break up of Yugoslavia. I have met with the families of victims and survivors including women who were subject to sexual violence during the conflict. As a result of my engagement with this and other mass atrocities I co-founded the Elie Wiesel Network of parliamentarians and elected members who pledge to raise awareness of genocide and genocide denial.
Hating ppl because of their race, colour or faith is wrong, leaders of nations need to tackle hate and tackling hate a priority.
I stand against all types discrimination including Islamophobia!
We are all members of the same human family and must never forget that.

When we remember this terrible past we learn that these atrocities must never happen again.
