We need to keep the OB department... It has served many families and is still as needed in the future...

I just had my baby there on October 25 and I wouldn't of made it to windsor if they didn't have the OB there! Do NOT close leamingtons OB!!

I delivered my son at Leamington in July and had an AMAZING experience. The staff was so supportive with breastfeeding and I had excellent care. It would be such a shame if they closed and I would hate to have to go all the way to Windsor if I ever had another baby!!!

This would be a huge step backwards if LDMH was to close the OB unit. LHIN needs to give us time to change the mindset of the community. LDMH OB unit has an amazing staff, and it's local. SAVE LDMH OB UNIT!!!

Every birth is it's own unique life experience, every birth is an opportunity to bring dignity knowledge support and care to women and their families. They say Canada's birth rate is falling but what message is being sent to Canadian mothers right now...you're just aren't having enough babies! - You're birth doesn't make financial sense! I recommend LDMH to all moms, but many have shared stories of 'less than compassionate care' and there seems to be a sort of 'don't choose LDMH campaign' spreading which is a shame. “Birth should not be a time in a woman’s life when she has to FIGHT for anything.” -Carla Hartley “…Respecting the woman as an important and valuable human being and making certain that the woman’s experience while giving birth is fulfilling and empowering is not just a nice extra, it is absolutely essential as it makes the woman strong and therefore makes society strong. ” - Marsden Wagner If there is anything we can do to save LDMH I'd love to know more about it!

The obstetrics unit at LDMH is a very important and vital aspect to the Leamington and surrounding communities. The doctors and nursing staff in this department are some of the best around! These individuals truly love what they do, and this is very much present in their day to day interactions with their patients. I am truly indebted to all those individuals who work in this department. I have a 15 months old daughter who was born at LDMH, and would have future children here in a heartbeat!! Nearing the end of my pregnancy, with one month left to go, I end up passing blood clots (very scary) and was admitted to the hospital, put on bed rest, and monitored extensively. Over the course of my two week stay, as my daughter came 3.5 weeks early, you get to see the amount of passion, compassion, and dedication, the doctors and nurses of this unit have. With being in LDMH for two weeks, I didn't feel like I was a number, the nurses would take time out of their busy days/nights to have small conversations with me, putting me at ease, and letting me know everything was going to be ok. I should also note that these nurses have very extensive training, in all areas, as they need to ensure that all situations can be handled, if they are to arise. Aside from my own personal experience, I would have to agree with Lauren Anderson, in that there are many women in the Leamington and surrounding area, which would be at a great loss, without this department. Since the birth of my daughter, I have been recommending LDMH to all the expecting moms I come across. I truly hope that this department remains open, as it really is a blessing to have this department and services very close to home!

Many of the women that deliver at LDMH, that would provide very good feedback, are from a culture that do not have internet or means to voice the importance that this unit means to them. Just a thought when considering the number of signatures on this petition.

The obstetrics unit at LDMH is an incredible service to the community. It would be a tremendous loss to women in rural Essex county!!
