Say No to Unfair Pay Cuts!!
Leicester City Council are proposing to dramatically cut the salaries of various staff including officers, technicians and low-paid workers after job evaluation processes. Hundreds of staff are being asked to accept pay cuts ranging from £400 to £8,000 in monetary terms - around 20-30% of our salaries. This is unacceptable. The proposed reduction in salary will cause hardship for many people. In some cases, where two members of a family both work for the Council, they could be losing over £10,000 per annum. This is a devastating blow for staff who just want to continue with the job that they have been contracted to do. The 857 people being down-graded are employed in a wide variety of posts, in departments throughout the Council, so the impact will be widespread. There is no question about the support for the other employeesâ
