A petition to move the BAPJ1s to a more suitable room.

The BA Photojournalism degree at LCC is a course which calls for the use of projectors, to display photographs in class for the purposes of discussion, critical feedback and teaching. Since the course began in October, the first years of this course have been subject to poor room allocation - our classrooms contain poor quality/badly calibrated projectors which are not fit for purpose. Of late, we have also had to use a classroom (T306) which is not even properly darkened or blacked out with blinds. This is an essential factor when viewing projections. Ours is a relatively basic course. We don't require the use of valuable large format cameras. We don't get through a vast amount of materials. We don't have an allocated studio day, or indeed ANY need for elaborate facilities. All that we currently require for the tuition of photojournalism is a suitably darkened space with a decent projector. Without these, the essential act of viewing and critiquing photographs is severely impaired, to the point where accurate feedback of our work is impossible and appreciation of images is difficult. This is something that cannot go ignored in a PHOTOjournalism degree. We the undersigned appeal to the University to re-locate the first year students of the BA Photojournalism course to a more suitable room, for the classes where they require the use of projected imagery.
