Need to metal detecting and found it to be a fun activity to do with my kids! I love that it brings us together as a family!

I am a newly-retired female and just bought a metal detector to mainly use for encouragement to get out of the house and get some exercise. At the same time, I would be cleaning up the environment (we pick up all trash that our detector finds, i.e., pull tabs and anything with a metallic signal, and throw it away) but we find lost items and return them to the rightful owners when we find them, or find artifacts to turn over to the museums and historical sites. We don't metal detect ONLY for the treasures we may or may not find (and it's mostly trash). Please allow us to be a part of the community and let us explore parks as well as rivers and lakes. Thank you!

Please remove the ban of metal detecting in parks. It should be the peoples choice if they want to metal detect at their local parks. The people pay the taxes to keep the parks running.

My husband and I clean up way more trash than anyone else in the park when we go out. Why stop us from helping keep the place clean?

Ridiculous to ban people from doing this. Just let us hunt for coins in peace.
