I definitely think he should be honored for his music writing, distinctive voice, and all the album's the man worked on were amazing and creative...
He should be remembered for all the work he did do, not for the past publicity on his drug addiction... He was somebodies loved one, and he was a sweetheart to all he new and they simply loved "Layne", as a person!!
On the other hand you got me, Cynthia Lung who is basically a "nobody", but my story is about recently just in 2012 hearing "Man In The Box" for the first time and i was TOTALLY HOOKED! First on his voice, and vocal range. Then I started to want to know EVERYTHING about "Layne Staley", and came to the sad as hell conclusion he had been dead for 10 years, and it broke my heart so intensely!! But it made me want more knowledge about the band, and himself! I am officially addicted to his voice and how much he could get out with just "1" god gifted breath! :-)
So Hell Yes He Should Be Rewarded for his talent and god given gift, that's what he truly wanted, and deserves STILL TILL THIS DAY!!
