The Liberal Democrats need a generational shift in its Leadership and thinking, and to move on from the post2010 decline.

She does present as a fresh and attractive option for national leadership, and that's important. Also she will play well with the younger voters that the LibDems need to win back from the Corbyn bandwagon.

Layla Moran running is a win/win/win. It will increase her profile as a new MP, it will energise and keep the significant feminist membership of the party engaged and it will be a much needed boost for the party's image as more than led by old white men. Layla has shown her leadership and liberal credentials in this election. It is clear she is ready if she wants to give it a shot.

Lets try something new, as opposed to recycling coalition MPs and pretending that we will ever be able to spin the coalition as a positive thing.

I know your voice and your integrity would add a huge amount to the debate across our party and the country.

Layla would bring a fresh voice to what would otherwise be an uninspiring leadership contest.

I have heard nothing but amazing things about Layla. It would be fantastic for the Party and the contest if she agreed to stand and be the leader we need to reach out to the young, BME communities and liberals and social democrats everywhere.

I do hope that Layla decides to stand. She ticks all of my boxes as a Liberal Democrat.

The party needs to go forwards not backwards. A return to the past with a leader tainted by Coalition will damage our future prospects.

Yes you only just stepped inside parliament and people are asking for your leadership. Though I wanted you from the start I thought we could perhaps cope with Jo. Jo stepped down and I thought we lost all the appeal of scientist running for leadership. You were a headteacher once now we like you to step in that role again. Jo as a deputy can be a good aid for any experience you may lack.

I'm not sure who to vote for yet. But members definitely deserve having an option to vote for someone who wasn't a coalition minister.!

Layla is the best choice as Lib Dem leader. She has great liberal values and the dynamism we need.

We need a new beginning and a refresh not a rehash.

The country needs a Lib Dem leader who hasn't served in coalition with the Conservatives, gets the Progressive Alliance and who opposes all forms of Brexit. There is more to being a leader than Westminster experience.
