How many laws are on the books that are completely irrelevant? How many laws are on the books that benefit a specific group of people? "Many special interest groups, such as oil companies, horse breeders, broadcasters, insurance companies, and even major league baseball clubs, have gotten tax laws passed that are designed to give them special treatment." How often are laws overturned? If you did an internet search for any one of these questions the answers are alarming. Last year about 40,000 new laws were ushered in across America. Once a law is on the books its almost impossible to get it off. So if you like being confused about the 4,500 pages of tax laws that are designed to confuse you out of your hard earned money, this probably isn't the petition for you. We citizens of this great country have seriously over governed ourselves to the point where we are loosing our independence. Laws should have a set expiration date with the option of extending it. Every 5 to 10 years each law should come up for review. Each law should require a set of statistics/pros and cons along with its run to show if it has proven itself worthy in our great society. If no politicians provide any proof of a laws effectiveness then it should automatically expire. Our politicians should care about their constituents and by reviewing the laws they've set to govern us is a step in the right direction.
