The study of law is hard, time consuming and expensive. As Marquette University Law School Students, we deserve to have the law school serve as a safe and quiet environment for our use -- especially during the two-weeks of finals each semester. The current policy of allowing everyone from the university and the community have access to the building during this time makes effective studying at Eckstein Hall not only stressful but it undermines the entire learning process.
Year after year we have seen that the policy of allowing non-law community into the building during finals has created unnecessary noise and aggravation for the law student community and the policies that have been implemented have failed to rectify or even mitigate the serious problems the non-law students have caused.
As the students and faculty of the law school we demand that we have complete access to the facilities of Eckstein hall during finals. Specifically, this petition demands that MULS administration change the current policy and that during finals no one other than law students (and law school/university faculty and staff) be allowed access to or use of the law school facilities. Further we demand that no community or CLE events be scheduled or held during the finals period.
As the primary and paying member of MULS WE deserve greater consideration and respect from the administration of this school and expect the Law School's support in allowing us the opportunity to learn and study in an environment completely free from distractions during finals.
The momentum behind this initiative continues to grow as more students join this collective call for an improved study environment. This level of engagement confirms that our need for a quiet and focused space during finals is shared across the entire law school community.

KEEP THEM OUT. Finals week is stressful enough without the noise.

Eckstein is supposed to be our space. Getting tired of having to hunt for a quiet corner when I have 3 finals in 4 days.

Its impossible to focus when undergrads are just hanging out in the building taking up all the tables. We pay way too much tuition for this.
